Te Whare Tūhono

The first part of the Uetia Collection, Te Whare Tūhono is a representation of whānau and the balance that whānau have in both supporting each other and working together collectively. Mahi Toi encourages whānau to reflect on their relationships, opportunities,

Te Poutokomanawa o te Wairua

The second picture in the Uetia Collection, represents Wairuatanga and the balance of the Taha Wairua. In the middle of the piece, there is a cross-symbolizing balance between Tangaroa and Tāne. The four sides of the whare are represented in terms of Te Whare Tapa Whā, as well as the whakapapa of tikanga, which includes kaupapa, mauri, kawa, and tikanga. Clarity over kaupapa provides purpose, and knowing the purpose gives us reasons for our actions. These reasons help anchor tikanga in the right way. It is easy to establish tikanga when we understand the kaupapa, possess the mauri, and recognise the kawa or reasons for these.

Ngā Kakano Tupu

The third piece in the Uetia Collection focuses on the future wellness of Mokopuna and Tamariki. It represents the abundance and growth that we want to see for whānau. This piece provides an opportunity to imagine what abundance and growth look like for each whānau, to reflect on their potential, and to nurture divine seeds that will bring divine things into their lives.

Te Hononga o te Ao

Relationships the fourth piece in the Uetia Collection is centered around relationships. It depicts the relationships between māma and pēpi symbolised by the heitiki, and between Tāne and Tangaroa. This piece serves as a reminder to support each other, even in challenging times, and emphasises that relationships are what sustain us when we need them most. It encourages people to honour their relationships, practice manaakitanga, and lean into kotahitanga and whanaungatanga, both within their whare and in their wider communities.
